The third annual conference of the European Political Science Association will take place from June 20-June 22nd in the beautiful and historic Parlament de Catalunya, Barcelona. We are extremely grateful to the generosity of the Catalan Parlament and the President of the Generalitat of Catalunya for making the parliament buildings available for our 2013 meeting. This site for the conference is consistent with EPSA’s policy of holding the Annual General Meeting in unique and interesting venues. We expect about 600-700 participants from all over the world to attend the Barcelona conference. You can expect that the EPSA 2013 meeting will maintain its commitment to featuring cutting-edge research paired with excellent networking opportunities in a great urban setting.

Barcelona is one of the most beautiful and exciting cities in the world. OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA It has a huge number of attractions including a city centre which retains its medieval street plan; some stunning modernist architecture including several buildings by Gaudí – Spain’s most famous architect; dozens of museums including one dedicated to Picasso, another to Miró. Barcelona is almost as lively at night as it is during the day and it has a unique and exciting atmosphere.

The conference venue is located right in the centre of Barcelona, close to the medieval district, the city zoo, the El Born district and Port Olimpic. Two of Barcelona’s well known summer events occur just prior to, and after, the General Conference: Sonar Festival occurs on June 14-June16, 2013 and the Festival of Sant Joan on June 23, 2013.

The conference aims not just to bring together the best of the latest political science research, but also to do so in a convenient fashion for our delegates, and to make sure they also have a great time during the conference.
Conference presentations are organized by topic into ten broadly defined sections, designed to attract a wide variety of specific proposals for papers within each section. One of the innovations on the proposal web site this year is that participants can propose to attend as a panel chair and/or discussant.

The call for papers is closed.

EPSA employs a policy of non-discrimination and therefore does not have panels for graduate students only. Consequently, proposal registration does not require disclosure of the year in which the PhD was completed. In the spirit of this equal participation policy, however, all attendees face the same registration fees, although registration will be discounted for EPSA members. (EPSA may be joined separately here.) Conference registration fees will be approximately the same as in 2011, which was €130 for members and €200 for non-members.

For general questions about the conference or questions about the proposal submission software, please address queries to epsa2013@epsanet.org . For queries about proposals or the proposal submission process, please address queries to ray.duch@epsanet.org .
